Opus Apart Hotel

Guestbook for guests and friends of Opus Apart Hotel

Do the members think that the present credit crunch in Europe will effect holidaymakers returning to Kusadasi.Whilst the pound is struggling agains the Euro it is also pretty low against the Lira, and Kusadsi is not the cheapest resort in Turkey(although its the best !!!).Are we in for a tightening of pockets regarding holidays with the news that all the major operators are reducing their seats abroad and may do so even further for 2010 makes it seem a strong possibility. The information given out by these operators also shows that more and more holidaymakers are opting for all inclusive-is this the future ?

Hi John,
I think people who have the habit to go to Turkey each year will return this year but maybe only one time instead of 2 times.. or maybe they will go just for 1 week instead of 2 or 3 weeks.. but definitively, they will come back lol

Concerning people who don't know Turkey, i think they will go to Turkey only if prices will be attractive. People need holidays but they want cheaper holidays so yes i think all inclusive packages can be the good option to attract them.

Hi John, Here a reaction of a new member of Opus. I'm from holland and my name is Manon. I am going tot kusadasi since 2001 and i also think Kusadasi is a great place too be ! Allthought is is not the cheapest place that's the truth.
All the years i went ( and many friends) for 2 or 3 times on a holiday. This year i will go only 1 time but for 4 weeks. This year the credit crunch made me look for a cheaper place ( but great place) to stay for our holidays. I certainly hope so that all inclusive will not be the future. Look at ladies beach it changed so much after the big hotels ( Imbat and Blue Sky) went for all inclusive. All the people on the ladies beach are strugling to make a living. Almost everybody is eating en drinking only in the hotels. I really think that is not a good idea...........
Bye the way i loved to watch youre pictures so i get a better view off Opus. Greetings from holland, Manon

Hi Manon,

I take your point that the all inclusive hotels have affected the local establishments on Ladies Beach, this unfortunately would appear to be an unwanted effect of the holidaymakers not having a lot to spend and all their needs being catered for in the hotels. Some friends of mine have only gone all inclusive in the past two years(not my cup of tea!!!) because they say they can better budget the cost of the holiday-they have two children. As regards to Kusadasi i think that generally speaking the Turkish business people in Kusadasi are greedy and they have pushed their prices way beyond the rate of inflation. It will only have a detrimental effect over the coming years.Glad you liked my photos. We return to OPus on 23rd May for 2 weeks

I have been checking out the rate for the lira against the pound, its very good today @2.52 also i think because of the credit crunch more and more people are opting for turkey this year instead of spain because its got very expensive, I have also read on the kusadasi biz forum that there are plans ahead to build a disneyland in izmir , which if this does happen it will bring the budget airlines to izmir, fingers and toes crossed that this will happen
